Looking for a fun way to understand finance? Well, there are loads of podcasts that fit the bill. You can stream or download these online audio programs and listen to them when it's convenient. So, if you're game, here are five great money-related options to consider:

  • NPR's Planet Money -- Born during the 2008 financial crisis, Planet Money looks at unique aspects of the economy, like the D.C. office where government employees take your burned, torn or waterlogged dollars and make them new. Each episode of the twice-weekly podcast lasts about 15 minutes.
  • So Money with Farnoosh Torabi -- Hosted by an award-winning financial correspondent, So Money brings in high-profile guests such as Tony Robbins for candid conversations about their financial successes and failures and the habits that enable them to lead richer lives.

  • Freakonomics Radio -- With eight million monthly downloads, Freakonomics Radio is an offshoot of the best-selling book by the same name, where a "rogue" economist explores the riddles of everyday life. Topics range in scope from the war on sugar to why waiting in line might be good for you.
  • Slate Money -- Hosted by financial journalist Felix Salmon, Slate Money dissects the week's most interesting business and finance news. Salmon is joined by two regular co-hosts in a format that allows for lively conversation. New episodes appear each Saturday.
  • Bad With Money -- Hosted by Gaby Dunn, a comedian who explores her personal issues with money, Bad With Money takes a hard look at the social and emotional aspects of finance. The podcast, only in its second season, is geared toward a millennial audience.

These five podcasts can help you gain insight into your personal finances and maybe even yourself.
